With Your Support

Utah Royal Kids held its first camp in 2003 and has continually grown in the ensuing years. We admit 40 campers each year. The participation of the broader Christian community is essential to the success of each camp. We have trained hundreds of volunteers from 36 different churches over the past years. Each staff member volunteers his or her time and energy to provide the best experience possible for each camper.

What volunteers say after they attend camp.

“Thank you all for everything you do for the children: the music, bible stories, drama, crafts and love!

— Blessings, Raedell

“It really was a great week. Thanks to everyone who made it special.”

— Connie

“It was an awesome week.”

— Rebecca

CAMP Volunteer Opportunities

  • Camp Volunteer "Camp Mentor"

For every volunteer also known as “Camp Mentor” that is willing to spend the entire week at camp, two foster children or “Campers” can attend Camp. Camp Mentors and all other volunteers are required to attend a day-long training in June in addition to submitting to a background check and fingerprints. Leaders arrive at camp Sunday afternoon to prepare the cabins and campground and to welcome the Campers as they arrive on Monday. Two Campers – and only two – are assigned to each Camp Mentor. In addition, there is generally a “back-up” Staff person for each Camp Mentor..

  • Other Camp Support Staff

Volunteers are needed to help with the everyday activities of Camp. Support staff are needed to help with crafts, drama, reading, birthday party, and running errands. Positions are available for junior Camp Mentors who are individuals of high school age who wish to volunteer but are not assigned to any children.

There is also a need for registered nurses to administer medication, and licensed social workers to assist in counseling and referrals, when necessary.

  • Grandparents

Grandmas and Grandpas are individuals who are not assigned to any specific camper but are available to assist in supervising and meeting the needs of the campers, especially when extra loving is needed. Grandmas and Grandpas write letters to the Campers and deliver mail each day. They are responsible for setting up and hosting the annual tea party where the Grandparents and Campers dress up in clothes appropriate for a British high tea.

  • Birthday Party Buddies

Many of our Campers have never experienced a birthday party of their own. We have a birthday party to celebrate ALL birthdays with pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatable bouncy activities, games, and crafts. After the party, the Campers return to the cabins to find birthday presents on each of the beds. Volunteers are needed to help with all the birthday activities and to help supervise the Campers for this fun filled morning.

  • Dream Team

Camp volunteers that have limited time to attend all camp activities can choose to become part of our Camp Dream Team. By 8:00 pm, Camp Mentors have already gotten Campers ready for bed. Dream Team members take over for just an hour to watch Campers as they sit with them to listen how their day was and to read them bed time stories. During this time, Camp Mentors take a break to have their daily meeting. Our Dream Team is an essential part of showing love and compassion for our Campers.

  • Registration Helper

Registration is Monday morning at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, helping check in the Campers. Responsibilities include welcoming each KID and his or her guardian, help them feel comfortable, check in their items, give them their name tags, and supervise them until their departure for camp. It is a fun time where you see the excitement of the campers as they prepare for their fun filled week of camp.
